TRIP, a non-profit organization that researches, evaluates, and distributes economic and technical data on surface transportation issues, recently released “Moving the Central Savannah River Area Forward.” The report examines travel and population trends, road and bridge conditions, traffic safety, congestion, and transportation funding needs in 13 counties in the east central portion of Georgia. Based on results of a TRIP survey conducted in late 2019 and early 2020, 25 percent of county-maintained roads are in poor condition, 40 percent are in fair condition, and 36 percent are in good condition.
