A Busy September Washington, D.C.
August 30, 2021 by NAPA Government Affairs

Congress will consider the annual appropriation bills, including the FY 2022 Transportation Appropriations bill, before government funding runs out on September 30. Congress needs to pass legislation to increase or suspend the debt limit. Democrats will also be working on the reconciliation bill, which committees must produce by September 15. Lastly, both the House and Senate need to pass and reconcile into a single bill the National Defense Reauthorization Act. The Senate returns on September 13 and the House a week later.

The asphalt pavement industry needs to use these few weeks before lawmakers return to Washington to press their Members of Congress to vote yes on the bipartisan infrastructure bill. NAPA calls upon members to take part in our grassroots efforts by contacting their Representatives to express support for H.R. 3684, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and urge its immediate passage. For background on the bill, download our fact sheet as well as the top 10 reasons to encourage your legislators to vote yes.
