The White House announced the appointment of Katie Thompson to the Department of Transportation as director of bipartisan infrastructure regulation implementation. Thompson currently serves as counsel at Amazon. Before that she served as chief counsel of the Federal Aviation Administration during the Obama administration. She additionally served as counselor to the U.S. DOT Transportation secretary and was the Transportation Department’s first senior sustainability officer. Thompson will lead a team to ensure the benefits of BIL are delivered effectively. Last month, the president introduced former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu to serve in the White House as supervisor of the infrastructure plan. The administration plans to add more positions across the country at every level over the coming weeks to help implement the legislation.
