Please Urge Your Representative to Support Funding to Keep People with Autism Safe
Rep. Christopher Smith (R-NJ), an Autism Caucus Co-Chair, has sent a “Dear Colleague letter” to his fellow Members of Congress informing them to sign a letter to appropriators urging them to request at least $3 million within the appropriations bill for the Kevin and Avonte’s Law program. This program provides competitive grants to promote initiatives that reduce the risk of injury and death related to individuals with developmental disabilities, such as Autism, who wander from safe environments. The program makes resources available to provide education and training to families, school personnel, clinicians, and other community organizations to put in place protocols to prevent wandering and respond rapidly in the case of a wandering incident.

Please email your Member of Congress and inform them to sign the letter.

Thank you!
