Puget Sound Energy is seeking rate increases that could add more than $600 per year to the average household electric bill by 2029. The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission will decide whether to approve the increases for electric and gas ratepayers.
The UTC needs to hear from ratepayers before deciding.

Tell the UTC to:
- Reject PSE’s proposed rate increases.
- Support the AG’s recommended lower profit margin of 8.17%.
- Reject placing 100% of the risk of power market volatility on ratepayers.
The Request:
- 17% electric rate increase in 2027 (+$28.31/month)
- 13% gas rate increase in 2027 (+$13.63/month)
By 2029, the cost impact grows:
- Electric bills: +$50.58/month (+$606.96/year)
- Gas bills: +$21.96/month (+$263.52/year)
Increases Deserve Scrutiny:
- No public estimate has been provided on the cost impact of shifting more power market volatility risk 100% onto ratepayers.
- PSE is seeking a 10.8% guaranteed profit margin, up from 9.9%.
- Approximately 12% of electric bills and 11% of gas bills go toward investor returns rather than providing utility service.
