Support Boating Access at Army Corps Lakes - Ask your Representative and Senators to support the LAKES Act
Lakes managed by the Army Corps of Engineers provide some of the best boating opportunities. In fact, the Corps is one of the largest providers of boating access in the nation, managing hundreds of thousands of acres of lakes and rivers.

Unfortunately, unlike other federal agencies such as the National Park Service,  the Corps does not have the authority to keep recreation fees collected at their facilities to support their own operations.  This limitation makes it challenging to maintain popular boating access areas, having to compete for general fund monies.

The LAKES Act (Lake Access Keeping Economies Strong) will change this policy, helping to make sure fees boaters pay go to support the facilities we need. Introduced by Congressmen Bruce Westerman (AR), and Jared Huffman (CA) andSenators Kevin Cramer (ND) and Martin Heinrich (NM), the LAKES Act is good for boaters and the communities that serve them.

Ask your representative and senators to co-sponsor this legislation. Hearing from constituents like you is the best way to build momentum to get this  legislation enacted. You can easily make this request by using the form on this page. Feel free to add your own message.
