Public Health - As introduced, prohibits a healthcare provider from performing on a minor or administering to a minor a medical procedure if the performance or administration of the procedure is for the purpose of enabling a minor to identify with, or live as, a purported identity inconsistent with the minor’s sex

STATUS:  Thursday on the House floor, at 10:32am, Rep. William Lamberth,  presented HB0001,  adopted the Senate version:  https://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/113/Amend/SA0008.pdf, and the debate began.

We had hoped that the important amendment Rep. Bud Hulsey presented would be adopted. We came so close. If we had had just two more NO votes we would have made it. Thank you to those who were involved.  We certainly hope that not making those changes in the FINDINGS will not be problematic when this legislation is taken to court.

You can see the first few minutes of Bud's excellent presentation HERE [The play button is in the middle at the bottom of the graphic.]

Tennessee Legislature Passes Ban On Child Sex Changes
February 23, 2023

A Tennessee bill barring sex change procedures for minors passed in the state Senate Thursday and is headed to Republican Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee’s desk, a spokesman for the state’s Senate Republican Caucus told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The legislation, which passed in the state’s House of Representatives last week, bars healthcare providers from administering cross-sex treatments to minors including surgeries, devices and drugs such as puberty blockers and cross sex hormones. Tennessee Republicans pledged to ban the procedures in the fall after the Daily Wire reported that the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) was giving children hormonal drugs as part of the gender transition process at as young as 13 and performing mastectomies on adolescent girls to help them present as male

“Gender dysphoria is a mental health condition that should be treated with love and understanding, therapy, and other appropriate interventions – just as we treat other mental health disorders,” Republican Tennessee state Rep. Wiliam Lamberth said in a statement shared with the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Under no circumstance should we ever allow a child to undergo a procedure that destroys their normal, healthy development. I appreciate the wisdom of the committee members who recognize that this legislation protects minors from the negative consequences of adult decisions they aren’t ready for.”

‘Lucrative Business’: The Child Sex Change Industry Is Exploding In The US

February 19, 2023

  • The child sex change industry is massive and growing, and children undergoing cross-sex treatments can bring a massive cash influx to hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and others in the medical industry.
  • From 2017-2019 at least 56 genital surgeries and 776 mastectomies were performed on minors as part of the gender transition process in the U.S., but even this figure is outdated and vastly underestimates the scope of the child sex change industry by excluding certain patients.
  • “There is no question that financial rewards play a role in the adoption of gender affirming care. Hospitals and physicians generate substantial payments from insurers or self pay patients when children enter into the transition protocols,” Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, board chair of Do No Harm and former Associate Dean for Curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Child sex changes procedures, including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries, have become a rapidly-growing, multi-million-dollar industry, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation.

While there is no comprehensive data set tracking the number of children undergoing cross-sex procedures, and the cost of these procedures varies widely, existing data and experts in the field have shed light on a highly profitable and quickly growing market offering largely irreversible procedures to minors. Mastectomies and breast augmentations cost about $10,000, cross-sex genital surgeries cost about $25,000, plus several thousand dollars for anesthesia and a hospital stay, and facial and other cross-sex surgeries range from $2,000 to $15,000, accordingto the Philadelphia Transgender Surgery Center’s (PTSC) 2019 price list; those prices have gone up in recent years, an employee told the DCNF, but the clinic has not released an updated list and wouldn’t disclose its new prices without a patient consultation.

“There is no question that financial rewards play a role in the adoption of gender affirming care,” Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, board chair of Do No Harm and former Associate Dean for Curriculum at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, told the DCNF. “Hospitals and physicians generate substantial payments from insurers or self-pay patients when children enter into the transition protocols.”

Detransitioned Ontario woman sues doctors who removed her breasts, uterus

'Acknowledging that I cannot bear my own children has been devastating. Some days, the pain of what I’ve done to myself is overwhelming. I cry and I can’t stop.'

ORILLIA, Ontario (LifeSiteNews) — A Canadian woman who regrets her so-called “gender-reassignment surgeries” is now suing the medical professionals involved in her “transitioning” process.

34-year-old Michelle Zacchigna from Orillia, Ontario, who underwent hormone treatment and surgeries more than a decade ago in order to appear as a male, has launched the very first Canadian de-transitioner lawsuit, suing the eight doctors and “mental health experts” who saw her through the self-mutilation process.

“I’ve been holding this card close to my chest for a while, and I’m ready to show it,” Zacchinga tweeted on Tuesday. “In November 2022, I commenced legal action against the Canadian health care providers that facilitated my medical transition in Ontario.”

“I will live the rest of my life without breasts, with a deepened voice and male-pattern balding, and without the ability to get pregnant,” she said.

“Removing my completely healthy uterus is my greatest regret,” Zacchigna lamented.

In a statement, Zacchigna explained that she first thought about transitioning back in 2009 when she was just 21 years old. Depressed, anxious, and self-harming, she found a community online where she finally felt at home.
