When a struggling community needed help devising a comprehensive plan, the Spartanburg Association of REALTORS® stepped up with support for a charrette – an intensive and inclusive brainstorming, visualizing, and planning exercise – that delivered a framework for the town’s top wishes: medium-density housing and a return of light industry.
The community of Lake County, Illinois suddenly found itself under threat of steep increases for land development permit fees. To combat the fast-tracked ordinance, the local REALTOR® organization stepped in with an analysis by the REALTOR® Party’s Land Use Initiative program, and got the problematic legislation sent back to the drawing board.
The City of Edmond, Oklahoma, just north of Oklahoma City, is already one of the state’s most costly areas to own a home. A new General Obligation (GO) Bond on the ballot would have made it even more expensive to own, rent, or buy there, so the Edmond Board of REALTORS® launched a campaign to urge voters not to pass it. “No on the GO” did the trick.
