Vision Zero, sometimes called Toward Zero Deaths, is a multinational road traffic safety concept that challenges an inherent notion that fatalities or serious injuries on our roadways are an acceptable and not preventable danger to our lives. Vision Zero is a multifaceted, multidisciplinary approach to achieving a transportation system with zero deaths or serious injuries through education, enforcement, and improving roadway design for all users. Traffic fatalities have risen over the past several years to 40,000 nationwide in 2016 and are showing no signs of slowing.

Bike Walk RVA, a program of the Sports Backers, believes we can work towards achieving zero traffic-related deaths and major injuries in our region.
