Another East Coast port strike could be looming as contract extension deadline nears

East and Gulf coast ports could be headed for another strike next month if the union representing dockworkers can’t reach an agreement on the contentious issue of automating port equipment.

The International Longshoremen’s Association threatened another strike next week in response to a statement from the United States Maritime Alliance, Ltd. that argued for more automation.
