A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO SUICIDE PREVENTION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the neighbor islands have higher rates of youth suicide attempts than Oahu.

     The purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds to support youth suicide early intervention, prevention, and education initiatives in Kauai, Hawaii, and Maui counties.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 to support youth suicide early intervention, prevention, and education initiatives in Kauai county that focus upon, but are not limited to, persons between the ages of ten and twenty-four.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 to support youth suicide early intervention, prevention, and education initiatives in Hawaii county that focus upon, but are not limited to, persons between the ages of ten and twenty-four.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 5.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.
