House Passes Four Bills to Support Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C. –  This week, the House of Representatives passed four bills to support veterans, including bills to ensure veterans using the Montgomery GI bill are repaid unused contributions, improve veterans’ eligibility to receive reimbursement for emergency treatment, direct VA to initiate a pilot to identify potential cost savings from on-site medical waste treatment, and require VA to create an online portal to make it easier for veterans to request records related to claims and benefits. 
 
A full list of bills passed today can be found below: 
  • H.R. 502, as amended – To amend title 38, United States Code, to ensure that the Secretary of Veterans Affairs repays members of the Armed Forces for certain contributions made by such members towards Post-9/11 Educational Assistance, and for other purposes (Rep. Banks). 
  • H.R. 815, as amended – RELIEVE Act (Rep. McMorris Rodgers and Rep. Pappas) 
  • H.R. 753, as amended – VA COST SAVINGS Enhancements Act (Rep. Bost) 
  • H.R. 1226, as amended – Title 38, United States Code, to allow for the electronic request of certain records, and for other purposes (Rep. Aguilar)
