About the event

We are very excited to share with you that founders of Positive Activity, LoriRogers & Neil Rogers, are hosting a private screening of the newdocumentary—SPELLERS on May 3rd at Nashua High School South. Weinvite you and anyone you know who may be impacted by Autism to join us forthis revolutionary film and announcement of resources available to familiesimpacted by Autism—these children can have a voice. The program is in itsinfancy of helping these young people get out of their darkness and be able to communicate openly with the world. The link for tickets is below.

In 2022, we learned of the Spelling 2Communicate program. Since then, we have been doing the training and workingwith our son Craig, a 32-year-old man with Autism, and each day he gets more and moreaccurate on the board. He can spell out letter by letter, word by word theknowledge that has been trapped in his brain for dare I say 30 years! It isbeautiful. He is all there cognitively, and his brain and nervous system needto be trained to communicate. And he is not alone. We are so excited for eachnon-speaking child and adult out there...and it’s up to us to spread the wordand share these resources with those who need them most.

About the film

Inspired by the book Underestimated, the new full-length documentary SPELLERS challenges conventional wisdom regarding a group relegated to society’s margins: nonspeakers with autism, who most “experts” believe are cognitively disabled. As the film opening asks, “What if we’ve been wrong…about every single one of them?” SPELLERS answers that question, in convincing fashion, through the stories of eight nonspeakers—Aydan, Evan, Sid, Maddie, Jamie, Vince, Cade, and Elizabeth—who all found their voice through the miraculous process of using a letterboard to communicate their thoughts and feelings. As Jamie explains, “we think, feel, and learn just like everyone else.”
