National Library of Medicine • An induced abortion is a procedure to end a pregnancy. It can be done two different ways: Medication abortion (also called medical abortion) and Procedural abortion. An induced abortion is different from a spontaneous abortion. That is the loss of a pregnancy before the 20th week of pregnancy. It is more commonly known as a miscarriage.

On Tuesday, December 8th our Communications Director Christina Bennett testified in a virtual hearing before members of a House appropriations subcommittee. The hearing was on the Hyde Amendment which bars federal funding from paying for elective abortions. Pro-choice Congressional leaders are seeking to repeal Hyde, calling the amendment racist. Christina was the sole pro-life witness along with three pro-choice witnesses. The hearing was lead by CT Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro.
