Tow truck driver struck, killed while removing disabled vehicle on Route 19

A 64-year-old tow truck driver was killed Sunday morning when he was struck by a sedan while attempting to assist a disabled vehicle Route 19 in Paterson, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 10:49 a.m. near mile marker 2-3 on the southbound side of the highway, authorities said.

Manuel Perez, of Paterson, was struck by the sedan, which then struck the tow truck and flipped over, officials said. Perez was pronounced dead about 11:40 a.m.
