Duane Gang joined The Tennessean in 2012. He is currently the politics and investigations editor, overseeing coverage of state politics and government and leading The Tennessean's investigative team. He also oversees the news organization's award-winning coverage of religion. Before taking on this role, he was the metro and politics editor. Gang previously covered the environment and transportation and served as the Tennessee correspondent for USA Today. His coverage of hydraulic fracturing and coal ash was awarded the 2014 Reed Environmental Writing Award for journalism. From 2005-2012, Gang was a reporter for The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif., covering government and politics. A graduate of Rutgers University, he began his professional career at the Chattanooga Times Free Press, where he covered police, city hall and politics.
