Just Housing Ordinance - Contact your Commissioner!
The Cook County Just Housing Ordinance passed all-too-quickly with little input from the multifamily industry.

Effective December 31, 2019, the "JHO" will have lasting impacts on owners and managers' abilities to provide safe, worry-free housing in Cook County. 

As it stands in DRAFT form, the ordinance would require properties to HOLD UNITS OFF THE MARKET for 10-13 days during an applicant's appeal process regarding their criminal history. 

It would also require only a FIVE YEAR LOOK BACK PERIOD for crimes instead of the industry standard of SEVEN YEARS since the date of conviction. 

Please write to your Cook County Commissioner today and ask them to amend the Rules of the Just Housing Ordinance so that you can provide safe, worry-free housing in Cook County.
