CAMFT is a co-sponsor of SB 903 (Padilla), along with the California Psychological Association (CPA), California Behavioral Health Association (CBHA), and National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW). The bill would establish safeguards around the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in mental health care by requiring clinical decisions generated by AI to be reviewed and approved by a licensed professional.

SB 903 has passed the California Legislature with bipartisan support and is now awaiting action by Governor Newsom.
