Stop Gill Nets from Returning to the Columbia River
We need you to voice your opposition to a proposed WDFW policy that would restore year-round mainstem gill netting to the lower Columbia River. Please click below to send comments to the WDFW Commission and the Governor’s office.
Last week, the Commission released the latest draft language of a policy that would reverse the 2013 Oregon-Washington gill net reforms in favor of a year-round return of non-selective gillnets to the lower Columbia River. The Commission has released the draft policy and is asking for your input. Please submit comments today and ask your family, friends and co-workers to do the same. Anyone who cares about the future of our fisheries understands that subjecting imperiled salmon and steelhead to non-selective gill netting is a really bad idea.
Consider taking an extra minute or two to add your own comments to the draft email that we have prepared. If you prefer to draft your own comments they can be sent to the Commission at and the Governor’s office at
For more details, CCA Washington has developed talking points on the Columbia River gill net reforms as well as Cold Hard Facts regarding hatchery production and gillnets. We will be providing additional details as this process unfolds over the coming weeks.
