NFIP Extends to Nov. 30

UPDATE: House of Rep. Passes Extension for NFIP

Wednesday, July 25, 2018, the House of Representatives passed legislation to extend the National Flood Insurance Program until November 30, 2018.

With this extension, the bill passed by the House ensures the program will remain available to those who rely on it. However, Congress is continuing to work toward a long-term reauthorization. This past November, the House passed a long-term reauthorization of the program, but it never made it through Congress.

Congress requires all properties within a 100-year floodplain that are purchased with a federally backed mortgage to carry flood insurance. By making the reauthorization a long-term program, it will allow builders to provide safe and affordable housing.

Thank you for contacting your representatives. We will continue to update you as information emerges.

Kindest Regards,
Capital Region Builders Association
