LIVINGSTON PARISH PROPOSED LIMITS OF FILL MATERIAL ON RESIDENTIAL LOTS

Members,

See below important information on a proposed ordinance in Livingston Parish. Please read and give us your feedback!

The Livingston Ordinance Committee met on Thursday, March 28 and discussed a  proposed ordinance that would limit fill to 24” on lots smaller than 1/2 acre (21,780 sq. ft.) and 36” on lots a 1/2 acre or above (21,780 sq. ft.). Tim Kinchen spoke at the podium on the ordinance. After some back and forth between Tim and members of the committee, members made a motion to defer the ordinance to the next ordinance meeting in two weeks. Following the meeting, several council members mentioned to Tim that they agreed with him and would work on the ordinance to make it acceptable to builders.

We would like to provide the council with in-depth input from our members so as to make this proposed ordinance an asset rather than a hindrance to our Livingston members. To do this, please answer the following question to the best of your ability:

How do you as a builder feel about guidelines for building house pads, that will ensure you do not put water on your neighbor’s house, vs hard and fast limits? Please provide your feedback to allyce@hbagbr.org.
