Cut Planned Parenthood Funding
March 15, 2017

Dear CVNC Participant,

Congress is very close to giving states the authority to withhold some funding to Planned Parenthood. Today we are asking you to contact our senators to support this legislation.

Background
At the end of the Obama Administration, HHS approved a new regulation under the Title X program that prevents states from excluding providers such as Planned Parenthood from receiving funding based on state criteria, such as a requirement that recipients provide comprehensive primary and preventive care in addition to family planning services.  The rule went into effect on January 18, 2017.

Under the Congressional Review Act, Congress has 60 days to overrule a new regulation through a joint resolution of disapproval.  A House resolution (H.J. Res. 43) was approved on February 16 by a vote of 230-188.  The Senate resolution (S.J. Res. 13) is awaiting action in the Senate.

Please click on the link below to send a message to Sentor Richard Burr and Senator Thom Tillis urging them to support this resolution.

Yours in Christ,

The Most Reverend Peter J. Jugis
Bishop of Charlotte

The Very Reverend Michael P. Shugrue
Administrator, Diocese of Raleigh
