The Trump Administration is serious about upholding the truth about sex and ending medical malpractice harming kids struggling with identity.
Currently, many children receive sex-rejecting surgeries and treatment that are underwritten by the American taxpayer via Medicaid and Medicare. Nearly all hospitals participate in both federal programs, with 96% of them entirely dependent on payments from Medicaid and Medicare. That means that most healthcare facilities that participate in gender ideology are receiving federal dollars.
Additionally, 53% of children under 18 receive Medicaid funding via the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Many of these children are currently allowed to receive scientifically false and irreversible treatments for their gender dysphoria on the taxpayer's dime.
To put an end to this, HHS has proposed new rules to protect children from sex rejection, deception, and the irreversible damage of sex-rejecting procedures that mutilate young bodies in the name of "transgender care." These proposed rules would:
- Prohibit hospitals receiving federal funds from performing destructive procedures that block puberty and chemically or surgically mutilate sexual development and functioning
- Prohibit state Medicaid plans and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) from funding sex-rejecting procedures or using federal Medicaid funds to cover them.
Public support to back up these rules is critical. Those who hold to the false doctrine of gender ideology will flood the comments with their opposition, so it is incumbent on us to support these actions by HHS.
