Act Now: Support Tax Relief for Philly’s Small Businesses

This year’s budget is a defining moment for Philadelphia’s economy - and we must get it right.

With the repeal of the $100,000 BIRT exemption, thousands of small businesses will face significant financial burdens at a time when they’re already struggling to grow and compete, making tax reductions more urgent than ever.

Join us as we call on City Council to take bold action in the FY26 budget. We must deliver real relief by reducing the Wage Tax and BIRT to support small business growth, job creation, and neighborhood investment.

Sign this Letter urging Council to prioritize fair, competitive tax policy in this year’s budget. This is a critical opportunity to shape a stronger economic future for our city, and your voice is needed now.

Help us show broad support for a more competitive and equitable tax structure - add your name today.

Petition Text

To: Members of Philadelphia City Council

I’m writing to express my strong support for reducing the Wage and Business Income & Receipts Taxes as part of the FY26 budget.

Every dollar counts, and the City's current tax structure makes it harder to hire, grow, and reinvest in my employees and community. With the BIRT $100,000 exemption now being repealed, tax relief is more critical than ever for small businesses like mine.

I would testify in person, but like many business owners and operators, I can’t leave during the day to attend hearings. That’s why I’m submitting this letter to make sure our voices are still heard.

I urge you to support meaningful tax relief that helps small businesses thrive and keeps jobs here in Philadelphia.
