Thank You EPA for Historic Biomass-Based Diesel Volumes
On Friday, March 27, EPA released Final Renewable Fuel Standards for 2026 and 2027. EPA made the announcement as President Trump hosted the White House Great American Agriculture Celebration. The volumes represent a historic change for the clean fuels industry, with EPA setting biomass-based diesel volumes that drive our industry rather than relying on overall advanced volumes – a long-sought goal for Clean Fuels.

EPA also finalized supplementary volumes to address the impact of small refinery exemptions granted in August and November 2025. EPA calculated supplementary volumes representing 70% of small refinery exemptions granted or estimated for 2023 – 2025.

EPA indicated that it will immediately turn to consideration of the 2028 RFS volumes, which are technically due by November of this year. We invite all industry stakeholders to express gratitude for the current volumes to encourage continued growth in future.
