Reject Funding Increases for Harmful Immigration Enforcement
While harmful immigration enforcement and border militarization persist, Congress has an important role to play. Congress is currently determining how to fund the Department of Homeland Security, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for fiscal year 2020.

Send a message to your member of Congress today and urge them to oppose increases in funding for inhumane immigration enforcement and limit ICE and CBP's ability to overspend.

More money into the budgets of immigration enforcement agencies means more capacity to separate families, detain asylum seekers, and deny those seeking protection. People of faith must make our voices heard that all families deserve to be treated humanely.

Agencies such as ICE and CBP have seen massive increases in funding in recent years. Unfortunately, this money does not often come with the necessary agency oversight, accountability, and transparency. Consistently allocating more money for enforcement activities in a broken immigration system results in more trauma and more family separation. For more information on what faithful border policy should look like click here.

Send a message to your member of Congress today and tell them to uphold humane immigration solutions, such as sustainably addressing root causes of migration, strengthening access to asylum, and using community-based alternatives to detention.
