NORTH CAROLINA: Protect Access to Obesity Treatment for North Carolinians
Obesity treatment and diabetes prevention access are at risk.   Currently, North Carolina Medicaid provides coverage for medications to treat obesity and help prevent diabetes. However, action is needed to continue FDA-approved GLP-1 coverage for North Carolinians on Medicaid and help prevent costly obesity-related complications.

We can’t afford to lose coverage in North Carolina. Prior to expanded Medicaid coverage, the American Diabetes Association® projected that 50% of North Carolinians would have obesity by 2030. Removing coverage for obesity treatment would stifle progress that has been made and is still needed to help address obesity, risk for type 2 diabetes, and 200 other debilitating and costly health conditions.

Action is needed now. Urge Governor Stein and North Carolina State Legislators to safeguard coverage for FDA-approved obesity medications for Medicaid beneficiaries, ensuring North Carolinians have access to this life-changing medication.
