What Does The Project Mean for Silver Spring??
The plan would reinvigorate our public spaces by providing a new plaza, public art, and new and exciting green space. The recent exterior repainting of existing storefronts and restaurants throughout the project has added a much-needed vibrancy and a breath-of-fresh-air. There will also be new and exciting outdoor amenities like outdoor ping-pong tables, cornhole sets, standing benches, bench-swings, and other modern outdoor features.
Already, vibrant new and locally owned tenants like the Eleanor – a casual restaurant that features bowling lanes, an arcade, and outdoor seating - are open and excited for the enhancements/upgrades. Other new locally-owned favorites include Matchbox Pizza, Loyalty Books, and wine shop/restaurant Locavino..
Importantly, this update would continue the success of the Silver Spring Art’s & Entertainment District and highlight the work of diverse artists. Four area artists are working with Downtown Silver Spring to select murals, sculptures, and other works to enhance the vibrancy of our area.
Simply, we must reimagine Downtown Silver Spring to help promote economic growth and safe community spaces as we work together to recover from COVID-19.
