Return our kids to full time, in-person learning!

ADVOCATE FOR OUR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION

After a year, it is time for Oregon to restore full in-person school and co-curricular activities for its children.

Oregon students are being left behind by policies that fail to align with current scientific understanding of COVID, which consistently demonstrate that schools are safe for in-person learning, full-time, five days per week.  We need to give our children the opportunity to recover from what has been a year of disconnection from real education, positive social interactions, and activities vital to overall development.

This petition aims to amplify the voices of thousands of parents who are extremely frustrated with the slow reopening of Oregon schools and return to co-curricular activities.

Petition Text

We demand that the Governor and State Legislature fully restore school and co-curricular activities as they were in Oregon prior to March 13, 2020, with safety protocols that adhere to prevailing science.  This includes:

  1. Eliminate Agency Barriers.  OSHA, OHA and ODE (“Oregon Agencies”) promptly remove regulatory barriers to reopen full-time.
  2. Co-Curricular Activities.  Parents should be permitted to watch their children participate in co-curricular activities; bars are open, parents should be able to watch their children play, now.
  3. Individualized Educational Plans (“IEP”).  Oregon Agencies mandate in-person delivery of IEP Services. Where Agency guidance conflicts with the needs of students on IEPs, provide administrators the ability to meet students’ IEPs and provide supports for in-person learning.
  4. Collective Bargaining Agreement (“CBA”) Barriers.  Unions have delayed reopening too long.  Remove any Oregon imposed CBA barriers to the prompt return to full in-person school.
