- In 2021, 77% of emergency department staff were exposed to workplace violence.
- In the Fall of 2022, 41% of hospital RNs reported increased violence over the previous year.
- 33% of emergency nurses have considered leaving the profession entirely due to violent assaults.
The Save Healthcare Workers Act, H.R. 3178/S. 1600, provides new tools to federal prosecutors to address violence against our nation’s health care workers. This bill would make it a federal crime to assault hospital personnel and provide for even harsher penalties if the assault occurs during a public emergency or if the attack involves a dangerous weapon or results in bodily injury.
Contact your representatives and senators and urge them to support H.R. 3178/S. 1600, which would provide more options to the federal government to combat violence against emergency nurses.
