On a warm day, temperatures inside a parked vehicle reach dangerous levels within minutes. Disruptions to daily routines is a known risk factor for hot car deaths. As pandemic-related restrictions are lifted and people’s lives return to normal, the risk associated with hot cars is as high as ever. Since 1990, almost 1,000 children have needlessly lost their lives in hot cars, according to KidsAndCars.org.
The Hot Cars Act of 2021 (H.R. 3164), would help prevent these tragedies by requiring all new passenger vehicles to be equipped with safety devices that alert a driver to individuals who may still be in the vehicle.
Write your Representative today and tell them to cosponsor and support the Hot Cars Act of 2021!
