Strengthen The Strategic National Stockpile. Emergency Nurses Need PPE!

Shortage of personal protective equipment like surgical masks, face shields, gowns and N95 respirators, have persisted since the COVID-19 pandemic began. It forced health care providers to take unprecedented steps to preserve and reuse PPE, risking their health and that of their friends and family.

Systemic deficiencies of the PPE supply chain for items like PPE, medication and other critical equipment left us unprepared to face the challenge of providing our health care workers with what they needed to safely care for their communities.

Before COVID-19, the Strategic National Stockpile was a reserve of equipment and supplies intended to help the United States deal with a brief need for supplies or equipment. It was not designed to handle a crisis like COVID-19. That needs to change.

Tell your Senators to pass the Strengthening America’s Strategic National Stockpile Act (S. 1974) today!
