Oppose Assembly Bill 1898 Before It Impacts Workplace Security
The California State Assembly is currently considering a bill (Assembly Bill 1898 - Schultz) that would undermine workplace safety and security. If passed, this bill would:

- Slow deployment of systems used for life safety, emergency response, and violence prevention.

- Create operation delays with the proposed 90-day notice requirement.

- Open the possibility of excessive lawsuits with broad definitions and private right of action.

- Have a disproportionate impact on small to midsize businesses with compliance costs.

- Create unintended compliance burdens with increased regulations on basic security systems.

As professionals in the security and life safety industry, we know firsthand how critical these advancements like AI are in keeping security systems compliant. That’s why we’re calling on legislators to vote NO on AB 1898 or support amendments to protect employer responsibilities and public safety.
