Support Workforce Development Policies That Strengthen the Security and Life Safety Workforce

The security and life safety industry depends on a skilled, qualified workforce to protect homes, businesses, schools, critical infrastructure, and communities across the country.

Our industry needs trained technicians, installers, fire alarm professionals, monitoring center staff, low voltage workers, and other skilled employees who understand the technologies, codes, and safety responsibilities involved in electronic security and life safety work.

Congress is currently considering H.R. 8210, the A Stronger Workforce for America Act of 2026, which would reauthorize the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and update federal workforce development policy.

As Congress continues this discussion, ESA is urging lawmakers to support workforce policies in H.R. 8210 that strengthen employer-led training, apprenticeships, career pathways, and industry-recognized credentials in skilled technical fields.

Security and life safety careers provide meaningful opportunities for workers while supporting public safety and community protection. Federal workforce policy should recognize the needs of essential safety-related industries and preserve flexible training options that help employers recruit, train, and retain qualified workers.

Take action today and ask your members of Congress to support workforce development policies in H.R. 8210 that help strengthen the security and life safety workforce.
