The Fulbright Program is the flagship U.S. government-sponsored international exchange program. For 80 years, Fulbright has stood as a cornerstone of American global engagement and has provided nearly 450,000 students, scholars, scientists, professionals, teachers, and artists with life-changing opportunities to study, conduct research, and teach in over 160 countries and territories around the world.
Yesterday, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO, 4) filed an amendment (Amendment #110) to the FY2027 State Department appropriations bill that would, if adopted, eliminate all funding for the Fulbright Program.
It’s very important to note that the Fulbright Program has incredibly strong support in Congress, and this amendment is very unlikely to gain traction among House Members or to be adopted. That said, we still need to make our voices heard and show Congress just how important the Fulbright Program is to the American people.
Please write to your Representative using our letter and ask them to oppose Amendment #110. This amendment could be on the House floor for a vote as early as next Tuesday, June 23, so we need you to act quickly!
We encourage you to share this campaign with colleagues, partners, and fellow exchange supporters. Thank you!
