The Fulbright Program is the flagship U.S. government-sponsored international exchange program. For 80 years, Fulbright has stood as a cornerstone of American global engagement and has provided nearly 450,000 students, scholars, scientists, professionals, teachers, and artists with life-changing opportunities to study, conduct research, and teach in over 160 countries and territories around the world. 

An amendment that would, if adopted, eliminate funding for the Fulbright Program in the FY27 State Department appropriations bill. This amendment was introduced by Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO, 4) and approved by the House Rules Committee to proceed to a floor vote. It's important to note that the Fulbright Program has incredibly strong support in Congress, and this amendment is unlikely to gain traction among House Members or to be adopted. That said, we still need to make our voices heard and show Congress just how important the Fulbright Program is to the American people.
