Ask your senators and representative to co-sponsor the Hospice Care Accountability, Reform, and Enforcement (CARE) Act (H.R. 7966/S. 4118), which was reintroduced by Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) and Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA). HPNA participated in various roundtable discussions leading up to the introduction of this bill, and we are particularly supportive of the provision allowing nurse practitioners acting as the patient's designated attending physician to certify terminal illness. Additionally, the bill would modernize the Medicare hospice benefit, protect patients and taxpayers from fraud, and expand access to essential services and caregiver support.
