  Friends,

Over the summer, EdChoice KY closely monitored activity in the state legislature. While preliminary discussions indicated a special session that would have included a scholarship tax credit proposal, it now appears the Governor will call a special session focused exclusively on Kentucky's public pension situation.

With that in mind, EdChoice KY is shifting focus to prepare for the General Assembly session in January. In the meantime, there is still a great deal of work to be done to educate the Commonwealth on the benefits associated with scholarship tax credits. We are continuing to connect with Kentucky families to tell the stories of parents and students whose lives have been changed for the better because of opportunities provided by scholarships. In our latest testimonial, we spoke with Kim who shared the story of her son, James. View their story below.

We encourage you to share Kim's story as she represents the needs of thousands of other parents and students. Let us know if you have a scholarship story to share!

This fall, we'll be increasing the volume of messaging to families across the Commonwealth to ensure that when the time is right, our numerous supporters can amplify our message that all parents deserve educational options.

To that end we have worked with State Senator Ralph Alvarado (R-Clark, Fayette, Montgomery), who you may recognize as a passionate school choice advocate, on a new piece explaining how increased school choice, financed by scholarship tax credits, will benefit students, parents, and ultimately the state. I encourage you to give it a READ , and share it with your networks!

One of the best ways to bring attention to this issue is to join with other supporters across the Commonweatlh. Please mark your calendars for the  2018 Kentucky School Choice Week Rally, which will take place on Thursday, January 25 at 10:00 AM at the Capitol in Frankfort. More information will be coming in September and October, including an opportunity to RSVP for the rally!

EdChoice KY appreciates your continued support and engagement! Please reach out with questions, or let us know of any opportunity there might be to educate members of your community  on Scholarship Tax Credits.

Thank you,

Charlie Leis
President, EdChoice KY
