Establish Eid as a holiday in Pennsylvania
Emgage Pennsylvania and CAIR-Pennsylvania have championed the two newly-introduced Eid Holiday bills, collectively the Eid Holiday Bill Package, which will designate Eid al-Fitr as a state holiday!

Introduced by State Representatives Carol Kazeem, Tarik Khan, and Jason Dawkins, the Eid Holiday Bill Package is made up of:

  • HB789 – amends the Banking Code of 1965 to designate Eid al-Fitr as a state holiday.
  • HB790 – amends the Legal Holiday Law to designate Eid al-Fitr as a state holiday.

Pennsylvania has a rich cultural history of diversity and was founded on the principles of religious freedom and tolerance. Given this heritage, it is imperative that we advocate for the expansion of recognized holidays, such as Eid al-Fitr celebrated at the end of Ramadan.

States across the country are following suit by designating Eid al-Fitr as state and/or school holidays. Please take the next two minutes to (1) urge members of the state government committee to  PASS THIS IN COMMITTEE  and onto the State House floor for a vote and (2) urge your state representatives to support this bill package by  CO-SPONSORING  it.
