The RSF, funded and armed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has used weapons and financial support to carry out these atrocities. RSF militants have raided homes, killed civilians in and near shelters for displaced families, and gathered people to mass executed them.

Hospitals and medical facilities have been targeted, including maternity wards. The violence is so intense and so brutal that the blood of the Sudanese people killed is quite literally visible from space.

Without decisive congressional action, the brutality will continue unchecked and no one will be held accountable. 

Five key House measures can help change that:

• H.R. 2059: Introduced by Rep. Sara Jacobs, this prohibits U.S. arms sales to the UAE until it ends support for the RSF.
• H.R. 1939: Introduced by Rep. Gregory Meeks, the U.S. Engagement in Sudanese Peace Act provides a comprehensive strategy to strengthen U.S. diplomacy and humanitarian response.
• H. Res. 479: Introduced by Rep. Chris Smith, this urges the appointment of a U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan to advance peace efforts.
• H. Res. 970: Introduced by Rep. Al Green, it expresses the sense of the House of Representatives on the urgent need to appoint a Special Envoy for Sudan
• H. Res.1179: Introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal, this resolution condemns the attacks on civilians in Sudan and calls for an end to external support to the warring parties and for efforts to promote a negotiated settlement of the war.
