Since April 2023, Sudan’s conflict between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. More than 14 million people have been displaced, 3 million have fled, and over 150,000 lives have been killed. In Darfur and El Fasher, entire communities are being targeted for ethnic cleansing, starvation, and mass killing.
The RSF, funded and armed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has used weapons and financial support to carry out these atrocities. Without decisive congressional action, the violence will continue unchecked.
Three key House measures can help change that:
- H.R. 2059: Introduced by Rep. Sara Jacobs, this prohibits U.S. arms sales to the UAE until it ends support for the RSF.
- H.R. 1939: Introduced by Rep. Gregory Meeks, the U.S. Engagement in Sudanese Peace Act provides a comprehensive strategy to strengthen U.S. diplomacy and humanitarian response.
- H. Res. 479: Introduced by Rep. Chris Smith, this urges the appointment of a U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan to advance peace efforts.
Contact your Representative today and urge them to co-sponsor these bills.
By cutting off the RSF’s sources of funding and support, we can help end the genocide.
