Texas Senate Bill 147 is unconstitutional and must be stopped
This is an urgent message to all Texans: a discriminatory, anti-immigrant, and unconstitutional bill needs to be stopped in Texas.

Senate Bill 147 aims to ban citizens from the following countries from purchasing or acquiring property, affecting future home and small business owners, in Texas: 

  • Iran
  • China
  • Russia
  • North Korea 

Authored by Texas State Senator Lois Kolkhorst (R-SD 18), S.B. 147 will ban citizens of the listed countries even if they are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or otherwiseliving in Texas with legal status.

S.B. 147 is causing deep concern among Texans with immigrant backgrounds, including dual citizens. State Sen. Kolkhorst intends for the bill to curb the influence of foreign governments deemed hostile in Texas by lumping innocent individuals living in America with foreign governments and stripping them of their property rights. The Governor of Texas has announced his intention of signing the bill into law if it passes the State House and Senate.
