The foundation of Florida's community based care system is a sound public policy that puts the safety of children first, and invests in providing the necessary resources that make protecting children paramount.
This year, lawmakers have made substantial advances with enhancing Florida's child welfare system, strengthening our collective commitment towards keeping children safe, and always keeping the children's best interests at heart. We want to thank lawmakers for prioritizing these policies this 2018 legislative session, which will fund various organizations as they ensure the needs of Florida's children are being met, provide aid and protections for both the children and youth in our state, and invests in Florida's system of child care in a multitude of ways; some of which include:
- Supporting & protecting children and youth currently in our care;
- Making greater investments in numerous prevention and diversion programs, and;
- Providing greater resources and support for caseworkers, case managers, child protective investigators, and other agencies responsible for providing a broad array of services for children and families in our care.
These investments and ongoing partnerships between lawmakers, DCF, and local communities, are the keys to our success and put Florida's system of child welfare at the forefront of national attention. We thank you all for your tireless efforts and let's continue moving forward in enhancing the lives of Florida's children!
