SB 7030 - Don't Arm Teachers!

SB 7030 Implementation of Legislative Recommendations of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission, formally the School Safety and Security bill, will be heard on the Senate floor on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. While this bill continues to contain support for students in the area of mental health and hardening of schools, this bill again aims to arm our teachers.

Florida PTA strongly opposes any measure that allows teachers to be armed on school campuses. Our teachers are in the classroom to teach and inspire our children. Florida PTA supports trained law enforcement officers as the only individuals armed on our school campuses.

Please call or email your Senator today. Tell them that you oppose the arming of teachers. Tell them that you want ONLY trained law enforcement officers on our school campuses, protecting our children.
