HB6003 is set to be debated in the House Civil Justice & Claims Subcommittee on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Last year, Governor Ron DeSantis vetoed the same legislation.
The bill as written would repeal current medical liability protections, allowing an additional class of survivors to recover unlimited non-economic damages in wrongful death medical liability actions.
There is no cap on the amount that can be awarded under the bill, and FSR continues to advocate for meaningful medical malpractice caps to be included in any proposals the Legislature considers.
By adding caps to HB 6003, the Legislature can help create a more equitable medical liability framework that protects Florida's provider community and the patients we serve.
While FSR continues to OPPOSE HB 6003, please take the time to send the committee an email that:
- Opposes HB 6003 and
- Encourages the committee to amend to include medical malpractice caps for all medical liability actions.
We are stronger together and join your fellow FSR members in making your voice heard.
