Ask Congress to prioritize lifesaving relief and development in 2024 funding bills
Food for the Hungry's CEO, Mark Viso, recently asked members of Congress on the House Appropriations Committee to fully fund international relief and development programs in its annual appropriations process. In his testimony, Mark noted Food for the Hungry's critical work in the world's Hunger Hotspots, including vulnerable countries like Ethiopia, Haiti, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and explained the critical role of USG humanitarian and food assistance.

These lifesaving programs have historically received bipartisan support, and as Mark noted in his testimony, "[t]he Subcommittee’s past support for critical food aid programs confirms that you, too, are moved by present injustices and motivated to mobilize American commodities and investment to address them. Your continued partnership in aiding and empowering the most vulnerable members of our global community is indispensable to the work of Food for the Hungry." The programs Mark mentioned provide the relief urgently needed to save lives now, while building long-term resilience to prevent future crises.

We need your help to support Mark's message! Members of Congress are currently debating next year's funding levels for critical relief and development programs. Please contact your Member of Congress and Senators today to ask them to protect strong funding for international development and food security programs in both the Agriculture and State & Foreign Operations appropriations bills in Fiscal Year 2024.
