The bipartisan Charitable Act (S. 566/HR 3455) restores the non-itemizer charitable deduction and increases the amount taxpayers could deduct to approximately $4,600 for individuals ($9,200 for joint filers). The legislation would also make gifts to donor-advised funds eligible for the universal charitable deduction. Incentivizing charitable giving will help charitable organizations achieve their missions and support their workforces as they meet the growing needs of their communities.
