Tell Your State Legislators: Invest in Infant and Maternal Health in the State Budget
Right now, members of the Ohio General Assembly are working on the state’s biennial budget. The state budget determines how much funding goes to vital programs that help Ohio’s youngest children, including health care for pregnant women and new moms. We need early childhood champions like you to use your voice to urge state legislators to make infant and maternal health a priority in the state budget and to allow Medicaid to take action to extend postpartum coverage to 12 months after pregnancy.

All children deserve the chance to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. But all too often, a child’s race, their family’s income, or the zip code they live in determines how they’ll do in life. That’s why high-quality programs that support at-risk infants, toddlers, and their families helps lay the foundation to a stronger, healthier, and more prosperous Ohio.

Ohio’s youngest children don’t have a voice at the Statehouse, but you do. Please use this form to email your representatives in the Ohio General Assembly asking them to add language to the state budget allowing Medicaid to extend postpartum coverage from 60 days to 12 months. This can be a powerful tool in addressing Ohio's infant and maternal mortality crisis.
