Tell the EPA: Protect Greenhouse Gas Standards for Power Plants

On September 14, 2026, the Environmental Protection Agency proposed a supplemental rule that goes further than a normal rollback. Rather than simply weakening emissions standards, EPA is proposing to find that it has no legal authority at all to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from fossil-fuel-fired power plants under Clean Air Act Section 111.

Taken together with the rollback of the climate pollution for power plants rule announced at the same time, this supplemental rule could make it nearly impossible for future administrations to regulate climate pollution unless legislation is passed.

Power plants are the second-largest source of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, and this rule would result in worsening harm to the patients we treat.

It is important that as many voices as possible show up as part of the public record to provide our evidence-based expertise on why regulating climate pollution is a health issue.
