Please take a moment to urge your Congressperson to co-sponsor Rep. D’esposito's important Antisemitism bill. The broader the support it has, the better its chance to pass.
This bill will require that a clear and comprehensive definition of antisemitism is used when enforcing existing civil rights laws. The International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition has a broad mandate from Jews across the country. Very importantly, it includes the anti-Israel-motivated antisemitism that currently accounts for 70% of antisemitic incidents today. Those incidents are often swept under the rug as 'politically-motivated', which effectively denies our community the civil rights protections that all other communities receive.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Congressman Mike Lawler for co-sponsoring this bill, which is a key companion to HB6090, a bill that would likewise codify the IHRA definition for federal use. Rep. Lawler is to be commended for his firm commitment to driving this important policy effort forward.
Please send an email to your Representative now.
Thank you for your advocacy, and for standing up against antisemitism.
