Washington State lawmakers are letting cuts to financial aid enacted last year at the 11th hour go into effect. Students from families with low incomes who attend not-for-profit colleges and universities will see their state student financial aid cut by up to 50%. The cuts to the Washington College Grant and College Bound Scholarship programs go against everything our state says it stands for: equity, opportunity, and building a strong local workforce.
Now, the state is changing the rules mid-game—after promising support to students who’ve been planning for college since middle school.
Add your voice, and ask your elected officials to look for all available avenues to do what is right for students, and for Washington. Find a way to restore student financial aid funding.
